Look in thrift stores, there are usually lots of these in the cases, and pick a few that have a similar color in stones, size and metal. Gold with gold, silver with silver. When it’s cold outside one way to keep warm is to wear a hat or in this case a cap! I love this look which anyone can wear. This is Chanel but these caps can be found everywhere and to me, add a snap to your style. Personalize with a pin in the center of the cap and just watch how compliments you get!

This sophisticated pairing is very unexpected but works because the blouse has a lot of the black that is also in the check of the skirt. If you are going to try this look, make sure that a predominant color, in this case black, is in both garments. The boots work with the length of the skirt which is just below the knee. A bit edgy and very, very French!

White Leather

How lovely is this outfit? The white leather jacket provides an edginess to the floral print dress which makes this a very feminine look. Notice the skin tone shoes which allow the feet to disappear and paired with the taupe tote it is absolutely the definition of chic. So, if you love long dresses, go ahead and wear them like this!

Military is everywhere right now and makes anyone look tailored and put together but the coats in stores are wildly expensive. Try a thrift or military surplus store to find a coat that speaks to your aesthetic. The leather leggings don’t distract from the coat’s strong statement and the red boots add a feminine touch. This look is never out of style.

The Letterman jacket is very au courant and can be found in thrift, vintage or consignment shops for a song. The floral skirt here makes the look more feminine and notice the length which allows the black booties to work without making the legs look bulky.

Winter Print Skirt

Isn’t this skirt fabulous! The fullness of the skirt is so feminine and the way the print lays in the print makes the body long and lean and look at those red shoes, the only word is fabulous. The stripe in the sweater echos the line of the skirt and the grey tone doesn’t compete. Notice the length, just below the knee which is absolutely now.

Down Vest

Baby it’s cold outside and we want to be warm, right? This is the chic way to wear that cozy down vest and still have a waistline. Notice that she is wearing two sweaters for extra warmth. Grab an extra long, narrow belt at thrift and tie is around the waist, a thicker belt will create a poof that nobody needs at the hip.

Warm and Wow Skirt

Looking for a warm look, ok, this may be a bit extreme but you get the idea. There are no rules for length anymore so it is perfectly fine to wear a long skirt anytime you want. What makes this look really dramatic is the leather at the top of the skirt giving it just the right edge and of course the hat is fab. Add a short jacket for extra warmth and bring out your inner Anna Karenina.

Fake Fur Collar

First let’s establish that I do not promote the wearing of fur, period. Nothing is more offensive than draping a dead animal around one, so why am I showing this coat? The coat is a beautiful shade and unexpected for winter but the white collar flatters the face making anyone look younger! Notice the brooch at the neck which also brings the eye to the face which is a trick if you are larger than you would like to be and the fit and length of this coat is perfect for any body type. Find a similar coat in vintage or consignment and don’t forget to pick up a pin while you are there.

Jeweled Sweater

Camel and Grey

I don’t think that there are many color combinations as elegant as camel and grey. The outfit here would be fabulous on the weekend or in a very casual work environment. If you are not as thin as you would like wear a flared grey flannel slack and achieve an even more elegant look when paired with a same color grey sweater, cashmere please!

Winter White

Wearing winter white takes elegance and sophistication to the highest level. Here we clearly have a seemingly expensive outfit of beautiful structured coat over a dress. The bag is a light tan with stud work bringing an edginess to this snow white outfit, the silk scarf picks up the tan and the tan colored shoes elongate the leg. If you want to replicate this look from thrift or consignment make sure that the fabric is flawless and has not yellowed and you too can wow any room.

A red coat can really perk up your mood and this one is a beauty. The color has a lot of blue in it which makes it a rich jewel tone and the length is just right at the knee. This particular red can be worn with any color making it, believe it or not, a neutral! If you are only going to have one coat in your wardrobe I would think twice about red because it is memorable and will brand you but if you’re comfortable in red, why not?

The Perfect Suit

Can this suit be any more flattering? The nipped in waist and slight peplum of the jacket can camouflage a larger than desired hip line. The skirt is straight and the perfect length to flatter anyone’s figure and legs. Be careful not to go too tight as this woman has done, the skirt not hug the hips as seen here. Finally, don’t you love the adorable tiny pink bag? We’ll be seeing more of them!
